The Best Coffee in Jordaan, Amsterdam (Flat White Edition)

If you’re staying in Jordaan and wondering where to get the best coffee, I unintentionally did the research for you.

During my weekend in Amsterdam, I stayed at Mr. Jordaan and somehow turned my mornings into a full coffee crawl around the neighborhood.

So this isn’t a list of the best coffee in all of Amsterdam — it’s a tested, flat-white-approved guide to the best coffee in Jordaan.

And yes, I take my flat whites seriously.

Luuk's Coffee

Best Overall Flat White

Luuk’s ended up being my favorite cup of the trip.

The milk texture was smooth, the espresso was balanced, and it wasn’t overly bitter or acidic. It felt intentional without being pretentious.

It’s small, neighborhood-y, and right across from Winkel 43, so you could easily pair coffee with apple pie if that’s your vibe.

If I lived in Amsterdam, this would probably be my regular spot.

Bruno's

Best for Coffee People

Bruno’s felt like a place locals gatekeep.

No frills. No aesthetic overload. Just serious coffee.

They had multiple bean options, and the barista clearly knew what they were doing. My cup leaned more floral than what I typically order, but it was brewed perfectly — light, clean, balanced.

If you’re someone who actually cares about origin and roast profiles, this is your place.

Kafenion

Best First Stop After Arrival

This was my first coffee in Amsterdam, and it did exactly what it needed to do. The hotel staff actually recommeded it and said it was the best coffee in the neighborhood.

It’s cozy, relaxed, and feels like a true neighborhood café. Not flashy. Not trendy. Just solid coffee and locals stopping in.

Sometimes that’s exactly what you want on day one.

Winkel 43

Best Coffee + Apple Pie Combo

You don’t go to Winkel 43 just for the coffee.

You go for the apple pie.

But if you’re already there (and you probably will be), the coffee holds its own. It pairs perfectly with their famous slice topped with whipped cream.

Is it specialty café level? No.
Is it a perfect Amsterdam experience? Yes.

Final Verdict: Where Is the Best Coffee in Amsterdam?

If I had to rank them:

  1. Luuk’s Coffee

  2. Bruno’s

  3. Kafenion

  4. Winkel 43 (for the pie pairing alone)

But honestly, part of what makes Amsterdam great is how walkable it is. You don’t need to over-plan it. Pick a neighborhood, follow good reviews, and let yourself wander.

Sometimes the best coffee moments happen when you’re not even trying to find them.
