My favorite cafes in copenhagen
Copenhagen has no shortage of great cafés, and I know there are still so many I have not even had the chance to try yet. That said, after spending time café hopping around the city, these spots stood out to me the most. Each one offers something a little different, from excellent coffee to cozy spaces and standout pastries, and they have all earned a spot on my list so far.
Buka bakery
Best Coffee
I love a good flat white, and Buka’s was exactly what I look for. Perfectly strong, a great size, and finished with a cute heart design that you really cannot beat. I liked it so much I drank two in one day. Their pastries are also excellent, which makes this an easy café to return to more than once.
Kompa’9
Coziest Vibes
I stopped here on my way back from Frederiksborg, and it was the coziest place to escape the cold. It was not overly crowded, and it genuinely felt like sitting in someone’s living room having coffee. A perfect spot to slow down, warm up, and take a quiet break from sightseeing.
kismet
Best Pastries
Every café in Copenhagen seems to have good pastries, but the cinnamon roll I had at Kismet stood out above the rest. It tasted homemade, was not dry, and had the perfect amount of cinnamon. Warm, soft, and honestly a little dreamy. I seriously think about this cinnamon roll often. This is a must-stop if pastries are high on your priority list.
sonny
Best Breakfast
When I wanted a full breakfast and not just pastries, Sonny was exactly what I needed. I ordered the granola and yogurt with coffee, and it was so good and kept me full for hours. It is a great option for starting the day strong before a full day of exploring. There are also a couple locations but I recommend getting a reservation if you’re not traveling solo.
